The Apprenticeships & Training Conference by EducationScape once again brought together employers, training providers, policymakers and sector leaders for two days of collaboration focused on skills reform, apprenticeship quality and workforce development innovation.
The conference explored how an employer-led, flexible and future-focused skills system can drive productivity, growth and opportunity across the UK. Keynotes, policy discussions and more than 80 practical workshops addressed everything from Government skills reforms to digital transformation and emerging skills needs.
While the event set the scene for the future of workforce and apprenticeship strategy, The Protocol Group focus this year was firmly on bringing our Future Workforce Lab to ATC attendees.
Throughout the conference, we showcased The Future Workforce Lab - a four-stage experience designed to tackle one of the sector’s biggest challenges: Bridging the Gap Between Education and Employment. Because the workforce crisis doesn’t begin at recruitment, it begins with a student.
1. The Problem
A look at the widening skills gaps, shifting labour market expectations and the lack of clear, compelling pathways for young people entering the workforce.
2. The Student
Centred on the lived experiences and aspirations of young people, highlighting their need for stronger guidance, role models and exposure to the world of work.
3. The Pathway - Powered by Our Exclusive Partnership with Young Entrepreneurs Academy
A key feature of our stand was our collaboration with Young Entrepreneurs Academy- a leading UK charity that equips young people with essential enterprise, business and entrepreneurial skills through hands-on, real-world learning experiences. In collaboration with UCL and The King’s Trust, the Young Entrepreneurs Academy have created an interactive learning series designed to help young people build confidence, manage money, discover entrepreneurship and shape their own future.
Through our exclusive education partnership, our clients gain unique access to Young Entrepreneurs platform, unlocking new ways to strengthen learner pathways, embed enterprise education and help young people see future careers, including careers in education, as tangible, accessible and exciting.
4. The Future Workforce
The final stage imagined how providers and employers can work together to build more agile, opportunity-rich pathways that prepare young people not just for today’s workforce, but for the one rapidly emerging around them.
We were also proud Gala Dinner Sponsors for the Apprenticeship & Training Awards - supporting an evening that brought the sector together to celebrate excellence across apprenticeships, training and workforce development. A huge congratulations to all the nominees and winners!
Our time at ATC Liverpool 2026 reaffirmed something we believe strongly: Bridging the gap between education and employment isn’t optional, it’s essential. We must give young people clearer pathways, stronger preparation and more visible opportunities, including the opportunity to join the education workforce itself.
